Travel Opportunities
The Reagan Leadership Program is a chance to see the world and to obtain a global perspective on leadership.
All students named as Reagan Fellows will travel abroad at least once during their time in the program. Students spend a week abroad during either their first- or second-year in the program as part of a group trip. Additionally, students are encouraged to complete their mentorship experience abroad.
Additional information, including common questions about travel opportunities for Reagan Fellows, can be found below.
What destinations have Reagan Leadership Program trips visited?
Recent trips have taken students to Hong Kong, China, Dublin, Ireland, and Madrid, Spain.
What is the destination for next trip?
We will be taking students to Stockholm, Sweden for a week in May 2025.
When are future trips scheduled?
Reagan Leadership Program trips are tentatively scheduled for the early summers of odd-numbered years. As such, our next trip will occur in May or June 2027.
What aspects of the trip are funded by the Reagan Leadership Program?
Most components of the trip abroad are paid for as part of the student’s Reagan Leadership Program experience. This includes roundtrip airfare to our destination, hotel (with breakfast), one or two excursions outside of the main destination city, museum entrances, cultural experiences, and two group dinners. Students are responsible for any additional spending money, as well as additional meals.
What are you doing for the upcoming trip?
We will be spending a week in Stockholm, Sweden. Sweden, home to a thriving democracy, a robust film scene, historic universities, and excellent music, offers ample opportunities for considering leadership in a global context. Students will explore the National History Museum, the National Museum of the Arts, and the Spirit Museum. We will take a trip outside of the city to explore the university town of Uppsala, which is home to Sweden’s oldest university, Uppsala University (founded in 1477). And, once back in Stockholm, we will undertake a kayak exploration of Stockholm’s archipelago, see an opera performance at the Royal Opera, take tours of the old city, and learn about Sweden’s leadership in the Nordic countries, in the European Union, and on the global stage.
Has the location for the 2027 trip been set?
We have not yet penciled in a destination for the 2027 trip. Possible options include Seoul, South Korea, Berlin, Germany, Mumbai, India, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Istanbul, Turkey. We plan to announce the location for this trip to our Reagan Fellows in 2026.
Can students travel abroad as part of their mentorship experience?
Yes! We strongly encourage Reagan Fellows to secure mentorship placements abroad. Students have recently completed mentorships in London and Costa Rica, for example. To learn more about the mentorship process, please click here.
